Brighter Crowborough

A group of volunteers dedicated to keeping our streets clean, green and litter free

About us

Once known as “Scotland in Sussex”, Crowborough is the largest and highest inland town in East Sussex, nestled in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and bordering Ashdown Forest.

Brighter Crowborough is a growing band of like-minded volunteers who strive to keep our streets, paths, hedgerows, waterways and woodlands free of litter. We also maintain the planting displays at Crowborough railway station and run the Brighter Ashdown Forest group.

Brighter Crowborough meet on the first Sunday of each month at the Croft Road car park.

New volunteers are always very welcome, whether you can manage the occasional Sunday or would like to become a more frequent helper. Please contact us to find out more.

Brighter Crowborough

A growing band of volunteers dedicated to keeping our town clean, green and litter free.

Weekly update - w/c 24th November.Another busy week for our teams, ten volunteers have been out and about.36 bags and hordes of vehicle plastic and the like collected this week. Along with our usual areas, we’ve again been clearing the A26. So far from The Forstal to halfway up the hill from Sandhill Lane. Note: from the Forstal, down the hill, one side has little or no verge and therefore remains untouched. 18 bags from the A26…..so far! Our Ashdown Forest team have been at Coleman’s Hatch, A22 Millbrook, Forest Centre to Wych Cross, High Road and Crowborough Road. Thanks as always to all our volunteers for their continued support in #makingadifference 💚 ... See MoreSee Less

Weekly update - W/c Monday 17th NovemberFour volunteers out and about this morning. Unsurprisingly as the weather first thing wasn’t very inspiring! 16 bags collected this week, added to our running total makes 1003 so far this year.On Monday, debris from an earlier RTC was cleared at Eridge. Hope those involved were ok. 🙏 We were asked if we would clear rubbish from a couple of lay-bys on the A275 Wych Cross after contractors had cut everything back, revealing a hoard of litter, that we did on Friday. Areas around the town and Jarvis Brook done today along with around a dozen car parks on Ashdown Forest.Recent recruit Claire, along with litter picking, cleaned the sign at the community centre. Thanks as always to all our volunteers in #MakingADifference 💚 ...
